Leadership is about supporting, encouraging and motivating others to achieve a goal, and is a skill that is transferable across all aspects of life including school, college and work. The activities on this page help your students understand that being a leader means being proactive, being a good communicator, keeping a project on track and more – all traits that can aid success within their future careers.

Lesson plan

(25 - 45 minutes)

This lesson encourages students to explore the concept of leadership, its different styles and the importance of teamwork when being a leader. It also teaches students to be more inclusive of others when demonstrating leadership skills.

By the end of the lesson students will be able to:

  • Identify key leadership qualities
  • Give a wide variety of examples of leadership and recognise that anyone can be a leader
  • Understand the importance of teamwork as part of being a leader
  • Understand how to promote inclusivity whilst practising leadership skills in a classroom or workplace scenario
