At LifeSkills, we provide resources directly to educators to help develop work-based skills and behaviours with your students. These may be before they join a work experience placement or entering the world of work.

Our core offer provides access to high-quality virtual workplace experiences to support students in finding out about different industries and jobs with options available for a wide age range.

This approach supports you with a multi-year, multi-experience model which is accessible to all learners and provides a tiered approach to activities. This can help you join activities together during a young person’s time at school.

Ambition from the government in England is to deliver two weeks’ worth of work experience for every young person. In Scottish schools, the statutory expectations for work experience are guided by the Work Placements Standard developed by Education Scotland and emphasises a flexible, learner-centred approach. In Wales and Northern Ireland, while not mandated as a fixed-duration placement, work experience is strongly encouraged as part of the frameworks for Careers and Work-related Experiences (CWRE) and Careers Education, Information, Advice and Guidance (CEIAG) respectively.

This page brings together all the options in one easy place. Designed to be used flexibly by you and your learners, these resources will help your students build on their knowledge, experience and preparedness for placements over time.
