Thinking about your future can feel a bit overwhelming, especially with technology and AI changing the way we work so quickly. But this also means there are loads of new opportunities to explore.

That’s why Barclays LifeSkills, has launched Accelerate your skills, a new and exciting national competition designed to help you build the skills you need for the world of work. 

You can take part through your school, college, university or youth group, with your teacher, lecturer or group leader able to run it as part of lessons, lectures or enrichment activities.

Open to ages 11–25, the competition challenges you to solve a real-world problem. Along the way, you’ll learn how to use AI responsibly and combine it with your uniquely human skills to create a solution you can be proud of.

Why it matters

The world of work is changing fast. While AI is creating new opportunities, employers are still looking for skills that technology can’t replace, like:

  • Critical thinking
  • Creativity
  • Communication
  • Adaptability
  • Ethical reasoning 


Taking part in a competition like this helps you to build confidence and develop future-ready skills.
