Care leaver suitable: Financial risks
This activity pack helps young people understand the potential financial risks which could be involved in activities such as renting a flat, applying for a credit card, going to university and starting a new job. It presents participants with a real-life scenario where a threat to their financial security could occur, challenging them to think about how the advice they’d offer in these situations.
Learning outcomes
By the end of the lesson, students will be able to:
- Highlight and rank the different types of financial risks involved in a number of activities
- Understand that everyone has their own view of financial risk, shaped by their experiences, influences and personality
- Appreciate the importance of being aware of online financial risks, as well as the consequences these can have and how to avoid them
- Demonstrate an ability to give personal advice in response to a real-world situation involving financial risk
