These two short lessons are designed to be used to approach the topics of entrepreneurship, and how businesses can work towards having a more sustainable focus. They explore key topics such as net zero, the circular economy and climate tech. 

They can be used alongside the Enterprise project challenge and lessons around using technology to be innovative in business, all featuring films case studies from entrepreneurs inspiring young people to develop a response to a real-world problem. We recommend that the lesson plans are completed before the project challenge as this provides knowledge which ladders up to completing the challenge.

Lesson 1: Sustainability in business

Teaching resources:

  • Lesson plan and presentation slides –lesson plan and supporting slide deck for use with a group of students in a classroom.

By the end of this lesson students will be able to:

  • Understand what it means to be a sustainable business.
  • Know some key terms around sustainability.
  • Identify the importance of net zero to a business.

Lesson 2: Entrepreneurs and sustainability

Teaching resources:

  • Film - hear from Eve describe her businesses Bundlee and how it is working to make a difference. 

By the end of this lesson students will be able to:

  • Understand that founders can combine passion with sustainability to bring about business ideas.
  • Recognise the link between customers and sustainable businesses.
  • Identify what climate tech businesses do and their link to sustainability.
