Being enterprising

Starting to develop an enterprising mindset whilst at primary school can help pupils prepare for the world of work and also bring about change within their school and community.

This lesson highlights how a mix of skills, a positive mindset and perseverance can help someone to be more enterprising. Pupils will discover that it’s about more than just setting up a business or being self-employed, being enterprising is a valuable skill that can be applied in different settings.

This lesson features in the employability skills scheme of learning for 7-11 year olds, in P4-7 or Years 3.  They provide a ready-made sequence of curriculum linked resources to help you build progression in your learners' knowledge over time. The Being enterprising lesson includes a film and practical activity to inspire pupils to look at things from a different angle to generate ideas.

• Identify the skills you might need to be enterprising.
• Explore how being creative helps to be enterprising.
