Set your students the challenge of putting their enterprise skills into practice whilst building their knowledge around what it means to be an entrepreneur. This suite of content features written and film case studies from a diverse set of entrepreneurs and helps educate young people around two of the biggest opportunities facing business and the world currently – innovative technologies and sustainability.

Students are encouraged to explore the world around them and create solutions for problems relating to some real businesses through answering the Enterprise project challenge.

The content is designed to be used flexibly and can be used as standalone pieces; however, we recommend that you work through the short lesson plans around technological innovation and sustainability before moving onto the challenge as they provide helpful background in relation to answering the challenge.

Resources can be tailored to your objectives, curriculum and timetable. They are available for educators to use all year round and embed across your curriculum (to fit with business and enterprise or financial mathematics, but can also support PSHE, Citizenship, English and more) in line with your school priorities. You could also use the resources to support a drop-down day, your own school Enterprise week or to tie into annual milestones like Global Enterprise Week or National Careers Week.

Through class discussions and project tasks students can develop core transferable skills such as listening and speaking (communication), creativity, teamwork and problem solving.

These resources have been created in collaboration with Barclays Eagle Labs, funded by the UK Government, as part of the Department of Science, Innovation and Technology (DSIT) Digital Growth Grant (DGG). The DGG aims to spur sustained and diverse growth within the UK tech sector. The resources help to approach the topics of entrepreneurship, using technology to be innovative and incorporating sustainability into business.

Do you know a budding tech entrepreneur? Barclays Eagle Labs has launched the Eagle Labs Academy, also funded by the UK Government, designed to support those working on an entrepreneurial idea or the very early stages of a tech business. The platform is free to use and guides users through various online modules. The Academy is a useful resource to share with any students looking to make their tech idea a reality.
