Our dedicated Families and Working Life section includes free tools, tips and activities to use at home to gain the skills and confidence for a young person’s next step or as an adult to increase their employability whatever stage they are at.
Available from primary school age right the way through adulthood you can find inspiration and practical support from exploring the key skills for next steps and jobs to setting goals, budgeting and managing money to writing the best CV and preparing for interviews.
For charities and frontline workers supporting adults and families, we have modules to address the range of employability needs adults have, to be delivered one to one or in small group settings. Get started with the LifeSkills wheel to help a learner see what gaps they have in their knowledge, which then help set goals and select which modules to use with them.
Barclays LifeSkills also funds charity partners helping families and adults – particularly younger adults - to thrive, by gaining skills and confidence to increase their employability. Working with other supporting organisations and local employers, partners provide training to help individuals enter or re-enter the workforce, or offer support for families to boost confidence and positivity as well as access assistance with household income.
What a frontline worker is saying about LifeSkills
“One learner initially came wanting to improve her general numeracy skills. Through conversation, it emerged that she had been out of the workplace for a long time, raising her family. She now found herself on her own and was struggling financially, in part due to a lack of confidence in using and understanding financial terminology. Using LifeSkills resources, the educator explained everyday financial terminology she might come across and helped her to draw up a budget using the LifeSkills budget spreadsheet to help her control her expenditure more carefully. I can’t rate LifeSkills highly enough as the quality is so good.” Trainer, Local Authority, Scotland
