Entrepreneurship: Explore tech innovation and the role of AI and digital.

These two short lessons are designed to be used to approach the topics of entrepreneurship, using technology to be innovative in business.  They explore the role that technological innovation plays in becoming a successful entrepreneur.

They can be used alongside the Enterprise project challenge and lessons around incorporating sustainability into business, all featuring films case studies from entrepreneurs inspiring young people to develop a response to a real-world problem. We recommend that the lesson plans are completed before the project challenge as this provides knowledge which ladders up to completing the challenge.

Lesson 1: Tech innovation and entrepreneurship (25 minutes)

This lesson introduces the topic of driving innovation through technology and why it’s so important for entrepreneurs. Students will discover the key skills needed to succeed, with examples of real-world technological innovation from entrepreneurs and learn about how cyber security is a vital component when running a digital technology business.

By the end of this lesson students will be able to:

• Understand what technological innovation is and what it means to be innovative.
• Recognise the key skills that are needed to be innovative through tech.
• Understand how innovation will shape their world in the future
• Identify the importance of making a business digital and the benefits of this.

Lesson 2: The role of digital technology and AI (25 minutes)

This lesson provides students with an understanding of the role of technology and artificial intelligence in modern businesses. Explore how to develop a balanced view on the positive and potential downfalls of AI and the challenges that entrepreneurs may face in the expanding digital world.
